Whippany, New Jersey'''Whippany''' is an unincorporated area (New Jersey)|unincorporated area located within Hanover Township, New Jersey|Hanover Township in Morris County, New Jersey|Morris County, New Jersey. Cedar Knolls, New Jersey|Cedar Knolls is another unincorporated area within Hanover Township. Whippany's name is derived from the Whippanong Native Americans in the United States|Native Americans, a tribe that once inhabited the area.
